Construction Law
Our Construction Law department is headed by STBB director Stoffel Ackermann and concentrates on the specific disputes that arise within the construction industry.
The department’s areas of expertise include providing advice on insurance requirements and exposure of specific projects, as well as standard form contract management, such as FIDIC Agreements, NEC Agreements, JBCC Agreements, recommended for use by the Construction Industry Development Board and the Built Environment professions.
Furthermore, our Construction Lawyers are able to draft project specific contracts in line with the Construction Regulations 2003, the Built Environment Professions legislation and other applicable laws. The department is further strengthened by the skills and expertise of STBB’s Development Law Unit.
Stoffel is the co-founder of the Society for Construction Law of South Africa (SCLA), an inclusive, non-profit organisation for the development and furtherance of the knowledge of construction law and related issues in Africa. The SCLA enjoys full affiliation with the Society of Construction Law in the United Kingdom and by virtue thereof forms part of a worldwide network of associate societies in Asia, the UAE, Australia and New Zealand, thus benefiting from international support and resources.
