Regrettably, we have to inform you that the Deeds Office closed for the 5th time this month to be decontaminated after a person who tested positive for Covid entered the building yesterday.
Prior to the latest closure, the backlog was estimated at 21 000 deeds. We can only but assume that today’s closure will exacerbate the situation.
From the available information, it appears that registration of transactions that will be lodged next week will occur at the end of July earliest. This is obviously based on the current situation. Deeds that were lodged after the 7th of June will most probably only register in the first 2 weeks of July.
As mentioned previously, we are managing the situation to the best of our ability but we once again urge all our clients to take the above information into consideration before making plans to move in and out of properties.
