Newsflash | The Eastern Cape Deeds Registry: Qonce confirms festive working arrangements

In a notice received on Friday afternoon, the Eastern Cape Deeds Registry: Qonce has confirmed its special working arrangements in anticipation of the festive season.

With the aim of keeping our valued clients informed and ensuring that all transactions are finalised timeously, please note the following dates for matters lodged at the Qonce Deeds Registry:

  • The Deeds Office will be closed to clients and the public on Wednesday, 24th and 31st December 2025 at 10h00.
  • It will operate – with limited staff – on Monday, 29th December 2025, Tuesday, 30th December 2025, and Friday, 2nd January 2026 before resuming normal operations the following week.
  • Any deeds and documents lodged by Friday, 12th December 2025 will be prioritised for registration on or before Tuesday, 23rd December 2025.
  • Any deeds and documents lodged after the above date are not guaranteed to register in 2025.
  • In line with the Deeds Office’s early closure, no lodgements or registrations will take place on 24th or 31st December 2025.
  • The final day for submitting Cape Town-related requests is Friday, 12th December 2025. Crucially, any requests submitted after this date will not be processed until Monday, 5th January 2026.
  • From Monday, 15th December 2025 to Tuesday, 23rd December 2025, registration will take place from 08h30 to 10h00 and again from 11h00 to 12h30.
  • To avoid complications, all Deeds Office accounts must be finalised – with proof of payment – by Wednesday, 24th December 2025.

Although STBB’s 13 offices close at midday on Wednesday, 24th December 2025 and will reopen on Monday, 5th January 2026, we are committed to ensuring that your transaction is registered on your selected date. To that end, we are carefully liaising with all other role-players whose closing dates may differ.
