Newsflash | FIC’S Directive 6 deadline looms

In March this year, the Financial Intelligence Centre (‘the FIC’) issued Directive 6 which required of estate agents (and other accountable institutions) to complete the Risk and Compliance questionnaire enclosed in the Directive and submit it to the FIC. Compliance is obligatory.

The FIC extended the initial deadline of 31 May 2023 to August 2023. However, as it appears that many had still not completed the questionnaire, the FIC issued a note on 5 October providing a final deadline by which to complete and submit the report, being 17h00 on 13 October. If you have already submitted your Directive 6 Risk and Compliance Return, you need not do anything more at present. However if you have not yet submitted it, you must attend thereto urgently as the failure to submit before this time will result in an administrative sanction and the non-compliant business may also face a financial penalty.

If you need to contact the FIC with questions, the 5 October Sanction Note provides a contact number and/or this Query link.
