MADELEIN WILLIAMS

Madelein is an admitted Attorney, Conveyancer, and Notary Public with just over a decade’s worth of post-admission experience. She is based at the Helderberg branch with a specialised focus on retail property transactions. Madelein completed her BCom degree in 2007, and her LLB degree in 2009, both from the University of Stellenbosch. Since obtaining her degrees, she has completed various post-graduate courses ranging from alternative dispute resolution, compliance management and courses relating to conveyancing and notarial practices. She gained extensive practical knowledge while completing her articles at the Stellenbosch University Legal Aid Clinic where she appeared in and argued matters in the Regional and Magistrates’ Courts, predominantly in relation to PIE and ESTA evictions. Madelein started her career off as a litigant and has over the years gained valuable experience in High Court litigation pertaining to general commercial law and property related matters. Her litigation highlights include complex cases involving commercial fraud, commercial interdicts, contempt of court proceedings, municipal planning law applications, liquidations, Supreme Court of Appeal proceedings and landmark eviction cases. In 2014, she joined STBB as an Associate in the conveyancing department. She was promoted to Senior Associate in 2018 and finally, after taking a few years to, amongst other things, focus on her family and to run her own practice, re-joined STBB Helderberg in 2022 as a Director at the Helderberg branch. Whilst predominantly focussed on retail conveyancing, Madelein also plays an important role in team management, she leads training seminars and is involved with the marketing and business development of the branch.
