Conveyancing Correspondent | Deeds Registry fee increases scheduled for 1st April 2025

On Friday, the Minister of Land Reform and Rural Development published the anticipated annual amendment to the Schedule of Fees of Office, as prescribed by the Regulations to the Deeds Registries Act.

The amendments, which apply nationally and are scheduled to come into effect on 1st April 2025, include an across-the-board increase in the costs to register a transfer and bond. Additionally, the Minister has introduced a new fee: a lodgement fee of R50.00 per deed/document, excluding RDP housing-related lodgements.

The fee for issuing a VA copy to replace a lost, destroyed, or misplaced title deed is now R624.00 per copy, the cancellation of a mortgage or notarial bond and a section 4(1)(b) application will each set you back R169.00, and requests for copies of title deeds will now cost R103.00 per copy.
