Blog | Reminder: Deadline for Ekurhuleni property owners to object to the GVR is fast approaching

Following the publication of the Fifth General Valuation Roll (‘the GVR’) earlier this year, all property owners whose properties fall within the boundaries of the City of Ekurhuleni are reminded to timeously lodge their objections by Wednesday, 25th June 2025.

Carefully inspecting the GVR – and reviewing the category applicable to a property – enables owners to formally object to an inaccurate municipal valuation or categorisation to prevent a potentially unreasonable rates increase.

Indeed, failure to object puts property owners at risk of being billed for rates based on an inflated valuation or incorrect categorisation from 1st July 2025 to 30th June 2029!

Property owners may view the GVR online and submit an objection by registering here.

Importantly, the municipality has sternly advised that no late submissions will be accepted.

For a deeper explanation of the critical importance of objecting to an inaccurate municipal valuation, read our informative article.
