In a brief notice issued by the Acting Registrar of Deeds yesterday, the KwaZulu-Natal Deeds Registry: Pietermaritzburg has provided an update on its December 2025 working schedule in anticipation of the festive season.
Accordingly, please note the following information regarding matters lodged at the KwaZulu-Natal Deeds Registry:
- The Deeds Office has declined to set any cut-off dates for the lodgement of matters targeted for registration in 2025. Instead, conveyancers are encouraged to lodge any deeds and documents – in respect of matters intending to register before year end – as soon as possible.
- No requests to fast-track deeds that are lodged late will be entertained.
- On Monday, 15th December 2025, double execution of deeds will take place to accommodate the public holiday and ensure high-volume processing.
- Further guidance, if any, will be communicated by officials.
Although STBB’s 13 offices close at midday on Wednesday, 24th December 2025 and will reopen for business on Monday, 5th January 2026, we are committed to ensuring that your transaction is registered on your selected date. As such, our team are diligently liaising with all other role-players whose closing dates may differ.
