HEIDI MÜLLER
Heidi is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in the legal and banking sectors, having worked in various departments within STBB for the past 27 years.
She attended Springfield Convent Senior School and later pursued a Diploma in Business Management and Paralegal Studies at Montrose Business Paralegal College, where she graduated with five distinctions. Heidi’s commitment to excellence is further demonstrated by her successful completion of two International Pitman exams.
In 1997, she joined STBB Claremont with Martin Sheard after gaining practical experience at two other Cape Town-based law firms, which provided a solid foundation in litigation and wills and estates.
From 1998, she worked alongside STBB Director, Martine Newman, specialising in corporate, commercial and wealth banking relationships based on service and compliance. Understanding and meeting the needs of banking partners is key to building and maintaining trust relationships and open lines of communication. Her diverse career includes international experience as a paralegal in Scotland and London, which has enriched her understanding of global practices and broadened her perspective on legal operations.
After returning to South Africa in 2002, Heidi was approached to re-join STBB Claremont and has since been dedicated to continuous personal and professional development. She has completed various short courses, including a Human Resources Management Diploma and a Digital Marketing Diploma, ensuring she stays at the forefront of new business methodologies – particularly in relation to her work with financial and niche banking institutions.
Heidi’s expertise grew as she took on a leadership role in the STBB Development Bonds Department, managing a team of seven bond paralegals; overseeing the daily operations for development bond and building loan registrations. This role deepened her knowledge of the bank’s registration process, as well as the specific requirements and compliance protocols of multiple banking institutions. She acquired a solid understanding of the various banks’ service levels agreements, registration requirements, particular suspensive conditions, compliance requirements, and no-fault approach.
Known for her interpersonal skills, Heidi has earned a reputation as an excellent listener and trusted Key Account Manager. Many clients have referred to her as an outstanding ambassador for STBB, a testament to her passion and dedication to the firm. Heidi’s approach is centred around building strong relationships, understanding client needs, and providing exceptional service and cost-effective solutions. She enjoys and values quality time with her family and friends and also dedicates time to various community development programmes for both adults and children.
