Stavros was born in Cyprus, raised in Rhodesia, and completed his tertiary education in Durban, South Africa. He has been resident in Durban since 1975 and commenced his studies at the University of Natal, graduating with a BA and LLB. He was admitted as an Attorney of the High Court in March 1984, and immediately thereafter opened his own practice in partnership with a close friend. Stavros commenced practice as a general practitioner, and then specialised in commercial law and family law. In the late ‘90s, he started marketing the conveyancing services of his practice, which later merged with STBB in December 2007. In late 2008, Stavros and his partners were granted the right to practice as an independent, licensed office in Durban, under the umbrella of STBB. He is well-known in Durban’s legal circles and local property industry, and he loves interacting with people. He was a voluntary reader at Tape Aids for The Blind for over 20 years, recording the De Rebus magazine and other legal articles first on tape, and later on CDs for accessibility to blind attorneys throughout South Africa. Stavros has a passion for the performing arts and has served on numerous committees and boards of various art bodies over the years. He was a board member of the KZN Philharmonic Orchestra for a number of years, chaired the KZN Performing Arts Trust for about 15 years, and was a Natal Mercury Theatre Judge for many years. He also sang with the Durban Symphonic Choir for over 30 years. Stavros is an active member of Durban’s Greek community and an avid amateur photographer.
