Lindiswa Jafta
Lindiswa’s passion for law and community service started from a young age when her Grandmother was involved in an ‘Attempted rape’ case of a young girl in the Eastern Cape. She was awarded an African Scholars’ Fund Scholarship and later, an ASSET bursary which enabled her to proceed to higher education. Lindiswa obtained her Bachelors of Law (LL.B) degree from the University of the Western Cape where she became an active member of Black Lawyers’ Association (BLA-SC) and a mentee by the regional court Magistrates, Siviwe Yakhe and Cathy Page in 2017-2018 as part of South African Chapter of International Association of Women Judges (SAC-IAWJ), an organization that provides law students with court-room exposure and community service through orphanage visits and other activities. In fulfilling her aspiration to serve the community, Lindiswa is proud to have been one of the students, together with UWC Alumni Relations Office, to secure funding for hundreds of UWC students in food security in 2016. From all the Law Modules she did at university, Lindiswa enjoyed the Legal process, a final year elective which gave her practical exposure to Family law litigation, basic Legal Drafting and an opportunity to consult with clients at the University Law Clinic. Through her hard work and academic excellence, she became a member of the Law faculty’s Top Achievers’ program, honored with the Deans Merit Award in 2018 and was invited for an internationally recognized membership in the Golden Key International Society. Lindiswa is an Associate at STBB and serves as such in the conveyancing department at our Cape Town branch. Lindiswa is open to learning as much as possible to advance her career in the legal field.
