The Sectional Titles Schemes Management Act and Community Services Ombud Act became operational on Friday 7 October 2016 and bring new practicalities to the management of sectional title schemes. The purpose of the amendments is to ensure the smoother and more efficient running of schemes. These include the requirement to establish a reserve fund for each scheme for purposes of future maintenance, new rules regarding limitation of the use of proxies and an obligation to notify the Ombud of the domicile of the body corporate.<\/p>\n

In addition, the Ombud\u2019s office will assist schemes to recover arrear levies, remedy an inability to obtain either a special or unanimous resolution, resolve conflicting management and conduct rules and will ensure the safe storage and availability of management and conduct rules.<\/p>\n
