Less commonly known than the trendy gas fireplaces, hobs and gas geysers to which it relates, is the so-called Certificate of Conformity. This certificate, sometimes also referred to as a \u2018gas compliance certificate\u2019, is a legal requirement for all permanent liquid gas installations in a home. It must be issued by an approved inspection authority and serves to confirm that the gas installation meets the applicable safety standards.<\/p>\n

According to Regulations issued under the Occupational Health and Safety Act, an authorised person shall issue such a certificate after installation, modification, or alteration of a gas installation or where there is a change of user or ownership. Therefore, when a property is sold, a new certificate must be obtained, regardless of how old or recent the existing one may be.<\/p>\n

A seller is responsible for obtaining this certificate, although the parties can agree to make it the purchaser\u2019s responsibility.<\/p>\n
