{"id":39810,"date":"2025-04-03T12:40:25","date_gmt":"2025-04-03T10:40:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/stbb.co.za\/dev2\/?p=39810"},"modified":"2025-04-03T12:44:09","modified_gmt":"2025-04-03T10:44:09","slug":"conveyancing-correspondent-payment-requirements-chief-registrar-provides-clarity-in-new-circular","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stbb.co.za\/dev2\/conveyancing-correspondent-payment-requirements-chief-registrar-provides-clarity-in-new-circular\/","title":{"rendered":"Conveyancing Correspondent | Payment requirements: Chief Registrar provides clarity in new circular"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Pursuant to the commencement of the <a href=\"https:\/\/stbb.co.za\/dev2\/conveyancing-correspondent-the-deeds-registry-fee-increases-scheduled-for-1st-april-2025\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><u>revised Schedule of Fees of Office<\/u><\/a> on Tuesday, 1<sup>st<\/sup>\u00a0April, and the imminent commencement of the <a href=\"https:\/\/stbb.co.za\/dev2\/conveyancing-correspondent-digitalising-deeds-registration-government-publishes-new-edrs-regulations-and-amended-deeds-registries-regulations\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><u>amended Regulations to the Deeds Registries Act<\/u><\/a> (\u2018the Regulations\u2019), the Chief Registrar has issued another circular (\u2018<a href=\"https:\/\/stbb.co.za\/dev2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/CRC-5-of-2025_Regulation-4A_Method-of-payment-of-fees_31March2025.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><u>CRC 5<\/u><\/a>\u2019) clarifying payment requirements.<\/p>\n<p>According to new Regulation 4A(2), all prescribed fees must be paid before any services are rendered by the Deeds Registry. In practice, this means:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The prescribed lodgement fee must be paid upon lodgement of deeds and documents for registration purposes; and<\/li>\n<li>The prescribed registration fee must be paid prior to registration of such deed\/document.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>An important element of the intended full-scale implementation of an electronic deeds registration system (\u2018the e-DRS\u2019) is to provide for the online payment of fees for services rendered, including the electronic lodgement of deeds and documents for registration.
