The sending of fraudulent emails, used for phishing or delivery of viruses and with the intention to compromise the recipient\u2019s email account, is rife across the globe. The fraudsters will often use a recognised brand name to mask their identities. We have noticed a number of such attempts recently, using STBB as the brand name with a misquoted \u201cSTTB Attorneys\u201d indicated as sender.<\/p>\n
To safeguard your own email security, remember to follow the 3 point rule: Stop, Read, Think. When receiving an email, always check that it originates from a trusted and expected source before opening any attachments or clicking on any links. An email from STBB will always originate from the stbb.co.za\/dev2 domain, example@stbb.co.za<\/u>.<\/p>\n
The current phishing attack doing the rounds is using the domain of suntekno.co.jp<\/u> and the default email address the fraudster is using seems to be nakabayashi@suntekno.co.jp<\/u>, however, this could change at any moment.<\/p>\n
What to do if you receive one of these emails:<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n Mark and report this email as fraud \/ spam in your email system and then block the domain as opposed to only blocking the email address. In addition, reporting the domain account as spam \/ fraud will allow us to combat this activity as a community and allow other email systems to recognise the email as spam \/ fraud and block same.
