{"id":1366,"date":"2019-07-12T09:46:38","date_gmt":"2019-07-12T07:46:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/stbb.co.za\/dev2\/?page_id=1366"},"modified":"2026-07-29T14:47:50","modified_gmt":"2026-07-29T12:47:50","slug":"apply-for-articles","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/stbb.co.za\/dev2\/apply-for-articles\/","title":{"rendered":"Apply For Articles"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1 class=\"h1_posts\" style=\"color: #840028;\">Article Applications<\/h1>\n<h4 style=\"color: #840028;\">CANDIDATE ATTORNEY APPLICATIONS<\/h4>\n<p>Dear Applicant<\/p>\n<p>Applications for articles (2026) have closed, while we are accepting applications for 2027.<br \/>\nThe closing date will be on 30 April 2026.<\/p>\n<ul class=\"p-rich_text_list p-rich_text_list__bullet\" data-stringify-type=\"unordered-list\" data-indent=\"0\">\n<li>Only candidates who qualify for interviews will be notified after the closing date.<\/li>\n<li>Should you not receive feedback from us by 31 May 2026, then your application was unfortunately unsuccessful.<\/li>\n<li>Interviews will be conducted during June 2026.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div><strong>How many Candidate Attorneys do you recruit on an annual basis? <\/strong><\/div>\n<div>The number of candidates is linked to the business needs; therefore it could differ from year to year. We are still finalising the numbers for 2027.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><strong>Do you guarantee permanent employment after completion of articles?<\/strong><\/div>\n<div class=\"p-rich_text_section\">\n<p>Based on the high number of Candidate Attorneys which we take on board per annum; we unfortunately cannot guarantee permanent employment after 2 years. Once again, the business needs will determine if any Associate positions would be available.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What are the qualities you look for in an applicant?<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Vacation work \/ practical exposure is essential<\/li>\n<li>Community work<\/li>\n<li>Leadership qualities \/ Team player<\/li>\n<li>Business Writing Skills<\/li>\n<li>Ability to speak in public<\/li>\n<li>Fairly strong academic records<\/li>\n<li>Strong people skills<\/li>\n<li>Well-balanced individual with lots of personality, energy &amp; a passion for law!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Do you offer articles at your\u00a0<strong>Gauteng<\/strong>\u00a0and <strong>Western Cape<\/strong> branches?<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Yes, we do offer articles at all 4 of our branches in Gauteng, namely Sandton, Bedfordview, Fourways and Centurion.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We also place Candidate Attorneys in the following\u00a0<strong>Western Cape<\/strong>\u00a0branches:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Blouberg<\/li>\n<li>Cape Town<\/li>\n<li>Claremont<\/li>\n<li>Helderberg<\/li>\n<li>Tyger Valley<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Do you rotate your Candidate Attorneys during their 2 years of articles<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Yes, our Candidate Attorneys have 4 rotations during their 2 years of articles at STBB. Should they wish to remain for 12 months in a specific department and the operational requirements can justify that, then we are flexible to accommodate this request.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Candidates who have completed the LEAD course are only required to sign a contract for 1 year, but we still recommend that candidates would consider a 2-year contract to obtain the maximum practical exposure to the industry<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Training<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>We offer monthly internal training sessions at our head office in Cape Town.<\/li>\n<li>We also encourage candidates to attend external workshops as advertised by the Cape Law Society and other credible learning providers<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Documents required to apply for articles:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Cover letter<\/li>\n<li>Summarized CV<\/li>\n<li>Certified copy of Identity Document<\/li>\n<li>Certified copies of all Degree Certificates<\/li>\n<li>Certified copies of academic transcripts<\/li>\n<li>Two dated character references \/ testimonials which are not older than 6 months<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Practical Experience<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Based on high work volumes and year-end deadlines, we do unfortunately not offer job-shadowing assignments | practical experience during the December \/ January holidays.
