Matome grew up in the rural areas of Limpopo. He went to pursue his soccer dream in Johannesburg, in which he played several professional developments. Upon completing High School, he continued to complete his Bachelors of Law at the University of the Western Cape, from the year 2017 to 2020. Having been a beneficiary of the STBB bursary scheme, Matome was further employed by STBB as a Candidate Attorney.
During his varsity time, Matome was an active student. He participated in several students’ bodies, from law faculty, and outside the law. He was a member of UWC Moot-Society. He further developed his leadership skill by serving under the Executive Committee of Black Lawyers Association Student Charter UWC as Deputy Secretary in 2019.
Beyond law activism, he was a member of the Association of Black Securities and Investment Professionals (ABSIP), which seek to empower, educate and mentor previously disadvantaged group about financial sector market. In this organisation, he interacted with students from Commerce background.
Beyond university boundaries, Matome was a Soccer Agent (SAFA Intermediary), in which he managed players in Multichoice Diski Challenge (PSL Reserve League), and Glad-Africa Champion league.
In his final year of LLB, he elected several commercial modules. Likewise, Matome wrote a research paper on the contemporary topic of ethical financial reporting, under the appellation of: “The Enforcement of Financial Reporting Obligation under the Companies Act 71 of 2008. A Warning for company Directors and other Officers of Public Companies”. It is against this backdrop that Matome is inspired to be an International Tax Practitioner and Commercial lawyer. Furthering his studies, he will enroll in LLM Tax at the University of the Western Cape in the academic year 2021.
Matome is currently rotating in our interesting Conveyancing department under his principal, Darren Brander. In his spare time, Matome plays soccer and spends time with family and friends.
