KRISTIN JANSEN

Kristin has completed a Bachelor of Arts in History and Politics at the University of Cape Town (UCT) and Bachelor of Laws through the University of South Africa. In 2022 Kristin graduated with a Masters in Commercial Law at UCT. She is passionate about the law and believes that she was called to this profession at a young age. Kristin is currently placed in the Estates, Conveyancing and Tax department in STBB's Claremont branch and is eager to gain practical experience in these areas. She has a keen interest in e-commerce law and how systems can be used to create efficiency and make the law more accessible and pleasant to people. Kristin firmly believes that education is a tool through which we can transform and empower ourselves, no matter which circumstances we find ourselves in. Her passion for continuous learning and development is evident as she successfully completed the internationally recognised CompTIA Certified Technical Trainer (CTT+) course and was nominated to present papers on end user training and support at universities in South Africa and in the United States. Kristin was involved in various IT projects at a top ranked university and hopes that her background in systems training, documentation and end user support will aid her in her legal career. As a student and throughout the Covid-19 pandemic, Kristin was involved with initiatives involving the upliftment of woman and children. She was also involved in various mentorship programmes. Kristin was one of twenty-five UCT students selected to partake in the Women's Pioneer Programme in association with the Democratic Governance and Rights Unit at UCT and the South African Chapter of the International Association of Women Judges. She was also involved with the Awakening Lawyers mentorship programme which focuses on the holistic practice of law. In 2022, Kristin was involved with the launch of the Women's Empowerment Project. Her philosophy is ‘A candle loses nothing by lighting another candle’. Outside of work, Kristin treasures time spent with her husband, son and family, loves traveling, and enjoys watching movies.
