COURTNEY LOURENS

Courtney is a Candidate Attorney currently completing her second rotation in the Conveyancing department at STBB's Cape Town branch. She completed her LLB degree at the University of the Western Cape (UWC) in 2021. During her time at UWC, Courtney was placed on the Dean's Merit list and became a member of the Golden Key Honorary Society. In 2022, she pursued an LLM degree specialising in Comparative Labour Law at UWC. Whilst completing her LLM, Courtney worked as a Research Intern and Respond Legal Analyst. In this capacity, her responsibilities included the reviewing of documents, conducting legal research and assisting team members with various projects. Courtney is passionate about social justice and strives to make a meaningful contribution to society by advocating for the disadvantaged members of society. Throughout her studies, she has volunteered at the UWC Street Law Society, UWC Legal Aid Clinic and an international non-profit organization, Movement to Inspire. Whilst volunteering at these organisations, she had the opportunity to share the fruits of the South African Constitution and meet people from all walks of life. In her spare time, Courtney enjoys outdoor activities such as hiking and swimming with family and friends.
