ALEX WILLIAMS

Alex is a second year Candidate Attorney currently in the Commercial department at the STBB Claremont branch. Starting out his legal career, he looks forward to upholding the standard of social responsibility that legal practitioners are tasked with, whilst constantly learning and developing his legal skills. He attended Stellenbosch University, graduating with a BCom Law in 2019, followed by a two year postgraduate LLB degree which he completed in 2021. In the final semester of his LLB, he embarked on a semester exchange to study at the Law Faculty of the University of Bologna in Italy. This was an invaluable opportunity to experience foreign higher education (in law subjects) and to see a small part of the world. In 2022 he graduated with an LLM in International Trade Law, completing course work within the commercial sphere as well as a thesis in the field of blockchain-based smart contracts for the international sale of goods. During his LLM studies, he worked part-time as a research assistant in the Dean's office at the Stellenbosch Law faculty, gaining experience in legal research. He has a great interest in sport and played provincial water polo, and otherwise he enjoys the odd round of golf with friends and family. To relax, he enjoys playing the piano and aims to reach grade 8 of the ABRSM Royal School of Music in the near future.
